A carriage clock is a small, spring-driven clock, designed for travelling, developed in the early 19th century in France, where they were also known as "Officers' Clocks”.

MA1814 - Grande Sonnerie
A fine French carriage alarm clock, with grande sonnerie, circa 1870.
Particularly impressive is the striking. A choice between grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie or silence. A corniche cased clock striking on gongs. Enamel dial with Breguet hands. The 8 day classic movement stamped with a trademark for V.R. Breveté Paris. No: 112150 still has it’s original silvered lever platform escapement with temperature compensating screwed balance.
